Each year any 10th, 11th or 12th grade high school student, residing in Bristol Borough, may come to this page or the Bristol Borough website for information about how to apply for one of the openings on the MYAC.

Students will get all the necessary paperwork to apply on either of these two websites including the application and the two reference letters.

Mission Statement

The mission of the MYAC is to serve the common good
of the community and provide a voice for youth
in decisions and policies of Bristol Borough
by organizing constructive community projects, strengthening relationships among youth, and between youth and adults, and providing positive activities involving youth.
MAYOR’S LEADERSHIP PROGRAM

The Mayor’s Leadership Program was created to provide Mayor Youth Advisory Council members with opportunities to participate in the community through their involvement with various service clubs, community organizations and local government (going to meetings, serving on a committee, participating in events).  This will also provide those educational and developmental opportunities that will enhance the leadership skills of the members of the Mayor’s Youth Advisory Council.

As part of the Leadership development of the Mayor’s Youth Advisory Council members we make arrangements with various local community leaders, county, state and federal leaders to meet with the Mayor’s Youth Advisory Council members. This is done in an open round table discussion as part of their leadership development so as to provide them with an opportunity to practice their leadership skills.

GOALS

A.Mayor’s Youth Advisory Council to act as a focal point for listening to and advising the
Mayor and the community regarding issues concerning youth.

B.To create apprenticeships to Boards, Commissions and Committees in the public sector
so as to gather knowledge and information and to act in an advisory capacity to such
  Boards, Commissions and Committees.

C.To take such action as the Mayor’s Youth Advisory Council considers appropriate to

   and processes.

D.To plan, implement and evaluate leadership-training opportunities for the Mayor’s Youth
  Advisory Council members.
